Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)3
/ 509(a)2 licensed animal shelter located in Pembroke, GA and serves
Bryan County and outlying areas. We operate solely on donations and volunteer labor;
we receive no funding from the state.
Our work is costly and we do a lot of out-of-pocket work although there is a limit to how much of that we can provide on a continuous basis. We ask for a contribution when an animal is placed to help defray the costs of vetting, housing and transporting but this is usually only a fraction of the actual cost incurred. Direct monetary donations are always welcome. We are also in constant need of everyday supplies: see our WISH LIST. Monetary contributions (which are tax deductible under section 170, 2055, 2106, and 2522 IRS codes) can be made to Georgia Animal Rescue and Defence Inc., 100 Dichroic Dragon Dr., Pembroke, GA 31321, or online by making a donation to the right. You can also make a donation directly to one of our veterinarian offices and specify that it go towards the Georgia Animal Rescue & Defence (GARD) account. We primarily use Heart of Georgia Animal Care, 62 GA Hwy 22 W, Milledgeville, GA (478-452-0200), Hampton Animal Hospital, 1147 Elm St. W, Hampton, SC 29924 (803-943-4887), and Cedar Animal Hospital, 150 Cedar St., Richmond Hill, GA 31324 (912-756-7560).
Donations of material goods can be made by appointment to the physical location of GARD or we can arrange to pick up items while on our pickup/placement rounds.
You can also sponsor an animal by clicking on their name or picture under Adoptable Pets , then clicking on the sponsor icon and following the directions on the Petfinder website. Your contributions are appreciated!
Other ways you can help
Every penny counts!
We are always looking for volunteers to help with our mission. There are many ways you can help such as providing a foster home for an animal, helping clean kennels at the shelter, feed or bath the dogs, or assisting at our adoption events. Please email us at animaldefenders@gardonline.org or call us at the numbers listed under Contact Us to volunteer.
