Katrina Dogs Await Adoption in Vermont

South Burlington, Vermont - November 18, 2006

It's been almost fifteen months since Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Most of the people who were left homeless have since found a place to live. But there are still homeless pets.

And several dogs from the South are in Vermont looking for new homes. A lot of them were rescued from shelters in the state of Georgia. A group called Georgia Animal Rescue and Defense has set up shop in Vermont, and is putting homeless dogs up for adoption. "We have some wonderful dogs that need adoption," said the rescue groups, Joy Bohannon. "We have some special needs. This is a blind Australian Shepherd that was over-bred, and we need a special home for her."
